Description
The Revit Sand 4 H2O Jacket amp Pants is bringing us a new update to the Revit adventure riding line Not only was the previous Sand 3 a great entry into the dual sport segment due to its features but its excellent price as well which is something that Revit have more or less stuck to since the price has remained about the 400 Euro price point With all this you are getting a much more refined sense of style a reworked waterproof liner and some beefed up safety as well all of which will make this a much stronger 4-season adventure riding set Alternatives to the Sand 4 will be Dainese D-Explorer 2 Gore-Tex and Dainese Solarys Tex Material The entire Revit Sand 4 H2O jacket is going to be coming made of Ripstop polyester which is a reinforced fabric designed for abrasion resistance This construction is going to be tough while also offering a simplification over its predecessor which had 500D PWR shell reinforcements in the shoulders and elbows and 600D polyester under the arms You are still getting plenty of reflectivity still though with inserts in the back front and on either arm on the outside The other major change for the Sand 4 is that unlike the Sand 3 this jacket is prEN 170922017 certified This is a new standard for riding gear and the Revit jacket has been certified to class AA which is good for a textile jacket since this means that key high abrasion zones withstood at least 70 km/h while testing Safety Besides that new safety rating the Revit Sand 4 has also received some updates to make it a better able to take a knock So while you are still getting that excellent CE Level 2 SEEFLEX armor on the shoulders and elbows as well as the preparation for a SEESOFT back protector you are now getting a set of divided chest protector pockets that can fit a set of Revits Seesoft CE Level 1 protectors These two extras are always highly recommended to ride with since they also protect vital parts of your body so its good to see Revit finally integrating that extra safety option into the jacket Lastly the jacket also comes with a jacket to pants zip so that you can combine it with something like the Revit Sand 4 pants Comfort As far as comfort and features Revit have also refined the Sand 4 to make it easier to ride with while also offering that dual sport performance So you are getting a set of revamped vents in the chest giving you full folding panels instead of the previous venting zippers You open them up with these vertical zippers which will also make them more comfortable to open and you just fold it back and into the button on the outside to really open up the chest area fo airflow Revit have added an additional layer underneath this that will still let air in while keeping larger water droplets out and you even get a replacement ventilation strip which is very thoughtful Coupled with these you then get a set of double air outlet zippers in the back set closer together than on the Sand 3 which will allow air to escape on either side which means you can get a lot more air flowing through and cooling you Lastly you do also get a set of very large zippered vents in the arms that you can unzip from the top So as far as airflow we are seeing a lot of changes here that will be for the better particularly in the chest As far as adjustability this is an adventure jacket so you are going to be getting plenty still since Revit also always manage to do a good job of giving you a nice number of adjusters In the cuffs you are getting a set of snaps and velcro along with that zipper that will make entry easier and further up you have another quick adjust strap Lastly in the bicep you have another snap adjuster to bring the sleeve in if you need In the chest you are getting an adjuster belt and you can also see the toggles thatll prepare the jacket for Revits various additional vests The hem is coming with elastic adjuster toggles and up here in the collar you have a flexi-snap closure This means you can slide the rivet to get the right fit or you can just open up the collar and fold it back onto the snap which is replacing that previous collar hook to make it easier to work with A final external feature of the Revit jacket is that you are getting a set of cargo pockets on either side fastened with zippers that have been anatomically designed to make them easy to open and close one handed on the go Their folded construction will also help keep water out Now moving onto the jackets interior you first need to open up the main zipper and you then see how Revit have built so much versatility into this one package First you have a secondary ipper underneath the main one that will keep the jacket closed while also exposing additional 3D air mesh along the length of the chest to bring in even more air Then you have Revits detachable hydratex Lite waterproof liner which will keep you dry and it is also windproof And to make it easy to install and remove its only held in with a single snap up top Next up you get a detachable thermal long sleeve liner that will also work towards keeping you warm The liner comes with two options for mounting since it will either snap onto the interior of the Hydratex liner or if its dry and you just want to add a bit more insulation it also can snap directly into the jacket itself So just like the Sand 3 you get a lot of options here as far as mixing and matching to suit your weather and riding conditions Inside you are getting 2 inner pockets for extra storage and you can also see the new chest protector pockets as well since theyre placed just above them A final note for the waterproof liner is that Revit have upgraded it as well so that you can wear it separately from the jacket and if youre riding with it in your rabbit pouch and it suddenly starts to rain then it will also fit over top of the Sand 4 Pants Now we come to the Sand 4 Pants built to match with the jacket in their dual sport construction and much more aggressive styling The pants are also coming with some updates to improve safety and ergonomics to also make them more comfortable for a full day of riding So with a recommended retail price of about 340 Euros or 400 USD the pants will be competing with the Dainese Carve Master 2 GTX and Klim Traverse pants Pants Material For material the Revit pants are primarily coming composed of Ripstop polyester for greater strength and were also seeing this simplification in construction as well since your previous 600D polyester and PWR shell around the knees is gone Whats happened with the PWR shell though is that Revit have moved and further reinforced it in the seat and inside of the cuffs so that it is now 1000D This will make sure that the pants will be more durable while also offering extra visibility with reflectors in the cuffs and a new strip in the side of the leg on the pocket Lastly the pants are like the jacket coming prEN 17092 certified to class AA so these have been tested to a stronger standard Pants Safety As far as safety the main changes to these pants have been in their ergonomics So you are still getting that CE Level 2 SEESMART armor in the knee and CE Level 1 SEEFLEX armor in the hips But the key difference is that the knee armor is now adjustable which will make sure the pants are more protective not to mention more comfortable And they do also come with a jacket to pants zipper in the back so you can connect them with the Sand 4 jacket Pants Comfort Lastly we come to comfort which is where Revit have made the greatest changes In addition to the overall more refined and fine tuned design and cut the pants are also coming with a lot more in terms of adjustability We already mentioned the new adjustable knee protectors but you also get the large Velcro closures around the bottom of the leg to fit a pair boots underneath In the hips as well youre also getting quick adjust straps on either side so that you can adjust the pants as you change out those liners Speaking of which just like with the jacket you are getting a detachable Hydratex Lite waterproof and windproof liner with a thermal liner installed underneath to make sure you keep warm in the cold If you are using this set in the summer then besides removing the liners you also get two large direct to body vents in the thighs which will bring in great amounts of air Right next to these you then get a set of cargo pockets For a last couple comfort features while still up top you are getting a swapped out snap closure with a special construction to keep it from popping open and zipper closure with a gusset to keep water out And in the back you have a stretch construction at the waist as well as sure grip panels in the seat to keep you from sliding around too easily Overall were seeing an impressive level of change with the Sand 4 set Revit have fine tuned and refined bits of it here and there to make this a safer and more comfortable riding set that will keep it a very competitive option once more at that 400 Euro mark Be sure to check out our in depth Revit Sand 4 H20 Jacket and Pants Video Review on our YouTube channel and make sure to subscribe to keep up
